2024 Holiday/Winter Break Schedule

Completing Quilts Before The 2024 Holidays

There is nothing better than a homemade quilt gifted to a loved one during the holidays! We would love to help you make that happen. Below is our timeline that ensures we get as many quilts as possible completed in time for your gift giving. Please know the key to success during this busy time is early/often communication, as well as getting your quilt to us quickly.

Important note for mail-in customers: USPS, and other services, often experiences delays during this time of the year. We encourage you to keep this in mind when deciding when to ship your quilt to TCQ.

Timeline:
November 18th*: This is 3 weeks out from our first internal invoicing deadline and the last day for quilts to arrive in the studio and be guaranteed a holiday finish. It is assumed we will have until our final invoicing days (listed below) to complete these projects unless otherwise discussed so be sure to note any early completion requests. Last year we were able to extend this deadline until right before Thanksgiving and while we hope to be able to do that again, we will have to wait to evaluate the situation closer to those dates. In the meantime, we encourage you to work with our current deadline in mind.
November 19th and beyond*: Quilts may still be submitted and we will do our best to turn them around before the holidays, but we are uncomfortable guaranteeing a holiday finish. If you do not need your projects before the holidays, feel free to continue sending them so they are in the queue for when we return.
November 28th (Thanksgiving): We’ve partnered with Suzy Quilts to have an exclusive deadline for quilts made from her Noel quilt pattern! Any Noel quilt that arrives before Thanksgiving will be guaranteed a holiday finish. See this blog post for more details. (Note, binding and photo services might not be available for quilts submitted in this last week - be sure to check in with us as we get closer to the deadline.)
December 9th: Last day for TCQ to invoice quilts that need to be mailed back to customers.
December 16th: Last day for TCQ to invoice quilts that will be picked up from the studio.
December 20th: Final open day in 2024. Quilts needed before January 6th must be picked up by this date.
December 23rd - January 3rd: TCQ studio closed and production paused. Quilts may certainly still be sent via the porch drop box and mail, but no prep work nor quilting will be taking place until we reopen. Our usual 4 week production timeline will start on January 6th for all projects that arrive during this time period.
January 6th - January 10th: TCQ will reopen and begin quilting all the quilts that were not addressed from November 18th-December 20th. We will also begin prepping and communicating with all the customers who sent quilts during our break.

*We realize folks may still have holiday orders they would like completed and we will certainly do our best! Last year we were able to accommodate everyone which was really wonderful. However, after our cut off we are uncomfortable making any blanket promises and prefer to address late arrivals on a case by case basis. Any projects we do not complete will be the first ones addressed when we return to work in January. During this time period, we reserve the right to prioritize projects as needed to accommodate the most customers possible.

Any project that requires us to work outside of our usual parameters will incur a $50 rush fee. Please reach out to us to inquire about our current capacity, possibilities, and whether or not the rush fee will apply.
