Supporting Lo and Behold
Lo and Behold Stitchery, aka Brittany and Peter, is a genuine treasure in the quilting community. Her work is total art and their sweetness is pervasive in everything they do, create, and put out into the world. I’ve been following their journey as they work to recover from Hurricane Helene. I’ve watched them support their community even as they need support themselves. It’s been both heart wrenching and uplifting to watch from afar.
I’ve been lucky enough to quilt a couple of Brittany’s quilts, and ya’ll love to send me quilts you’ve made from her patterns. So intentionally or not, directly and indirectly, the beauty Lo and Behold sends into the quilting world supports me as a longarmer. All those Upscale Plaids, Decos, Nightingales, and Knitted Stars you send allow me to support my own family, create beautiful content, and showcase my own work. With that in mind, here is what TCQ is doing to support them and their community:
We are joining the #heartsforbrittanyqal being hosted on Instagram by Jennifer Jones of Penelope Handmade and Joy Martin of The Makings of Joy. Our contribution is a donation of free longarming to an individual who has purchased a pattern from them recently. We hope this will continue to encourage folks to purchase patterns from Lo and Behold Stitchery which will give direct support to Brittany and Peter.
We are donating 20% of the longarming quilting revenue generated from any quilt made from a Lo and Behold pattern to organizations that have been directly supporting the Black Mountain area. The current plan is to split the amount between the WNC Food Systems Coalition and the World Central Kitchen, organizations named by Brittany and Peter in their blog post about ways to help. We are counting revenue from quilts that have been in the studio between the date the hurricane hit (September 26) and the end of 2024.
If you have a quilt you are making from a Lo and Behold pattern and you send it my way before the end of the year, it will be included in this effort.
Thanks and take care!
