As a business owner I have goals. Professional, forward moving goals. To achieve them I work hard, plan ahead, and conduct myself as one would expect from a respectable, qualified individual. But as a girl who loves all things quilty, I squeal in delight, dance around in a manner that would embarrass my children, and act like a 6 year old who just heard she’s going to Disney World when something amazing happens. I mean, we are talking fist bumps, booty bumps with invisible dance partners, and a lot of moves that got retired in the early 2000s. Don’t think about it for too long. My point is, something wonderful has happened and both my professional and uninhibited side are going C.R.A.Z.Y. with excitement!
This spring, Brittany opened Lo and Behold’s second class of her Beginner’s Quilting Academy. Using her Celtic Crossing pattern, Brittany teaches her students everything they need to know to bring their very own quilt to life and then sends them out into the world to bring new and exciting creations. Can you imagine what these new quilters are going to make along their quilting journeys?!
As an extra incentive to finish their quilts, as well as give them an opportunity to see what the longarming experience is like, I offered all of her participants 25% off their Celtic Crossing quilts. But then Brittany asked about the folks from last year’s BQA - several of them have not yet quilted their tops. I didn’t want them to miss out! And then I thought, I don’t want ANYONE to miss out! So, from now until August 1, 2022 ANY* Celtic Crossing Quilt that comes through the studio, whether the maker was a will be 25% off quilting services. Win, win, WIN!
I’ve personally made two Celtic Crossings and each of them has a special place in my life. The first one I made as a thank you gift for an incredible individual name Linda Gustafson. Linda was our daycare provider for the first 3 years of both of my children’s lives. Not only was she an incredible presence in their lives, but also in mine. I saw her twice a day every weekday for 5 years. She was this amazing blend of role model and friend; Linda taught me an incredible amount about parenting and she was a constant sounding board for my day to day life and decisions. She was also someone with whom I had lots in common - we both had season tickets to the theatre, ran our own home based business, and shared concerns about the state of the world.

The second Celtic Crossing I made was just as special but for a much more joyous reason. The Family Quilt, as we call it, is super cherished because my kids made it with me! My daughter, Ottie, asked if she could make a quilt with me and I was over the moon excited. After we got started, my son decided it looked like a good time and wanted to participate. She picked out the colors, we worked together on the layout and piecing, and voila! We now snuggle under it every evening while reading books. I’m proud of them and they are proud of their accomplishment.

Kiddo approved!
Thanks so much for reading all the way through! This quilt pattern is a special one to me and I can definitely see myself making others down the road. I hope, as many of Brittany’s students complete their own, that it becomes a special quilt for them as well.
Take care and be well. Until next time!
