Pattern Designer Partnership

Welcome, Pattern Designers!

In an effort to support and promote creativity in the contemporary and modern quilting world, Trace Creek Quilting excitedly offers a partnership for pattern designers. Here are the basics, see the accordion menu below for additional details and fine print.

  • Free longarming, batting, and return shipping on a sample of your new quilt patterns! If you do not need my services yourself, you can gift that free longarming to another individual making the top.

  • Should you take advantage of the free service, TCQ will offer 25% off longarming for the first 2-3 months of the new pattern’s time on the market.

  • Promotion of your release on our social media, homepage, blog, and to our email subscribers!

  • 40% off the longarming of any additional quilts of the new pattern you, your testers, or fabric shops get to me before the release.

  • SAL sponsorships including prizes, discounts, and promotions.

  • 25% off additional projects you send my way.

  • In return, we ask that you help promote the 25% off discount to your customers and audience via social media, emails, and/or blog posts as well as credit TCQ for the longarming when the quilt is posted and published.

  • To help promote you and your amazing work during release, TCQ would like to offer free quilting on a sample of your new pattern!

Ideally, this quilt would come from the designer themselves. However, we understand there are many circumstances that may prevent this from happening.

The designer may gift this free quilting to another individual or business making a quilt they feel will positively impact the release of the pattern and fits the timeline. Pattern testers, employees, or fabric shops making a sample are ideal options.

OR, if none of these options work and the designer is willing to share the pattern, TCQ can potentially make our own sample for quilting and promoting.

It is important to note the expectation that any of these options will happen with enough time for us to quilt and photograph the sample prior to the release of the pattern.

See the *Discount Fine Print tab below for what is/is not included in this offer.

  • We will quilt any additional quilts of the new pattern that arrive prior to release at 40% off*. This includes pattern testers, fabric shops and additional ones from the designer.

If the designer is willing, we find it works really well to be included in any pattern testing group or email list so we have access to the pattern and/or testers. With this, we can help promote the discount, stay in the loop on release dates, and answer any questions anyone may have for us.

*Be sure to see the Discount Fine Print and Minimum Charge.

  • If we get to help with a sample, and to help promote the release of your new pattern, TCQ will offer a discount on longarm quilting service for any tops of that pattern for 2-3 months after release! (Exact timing will be discussed with each new pattern.)

This discount will be 25% off the longarm quilting services.*

This discount can flow into and be extended throughout any planned QALs.

  • We will post the about your pattern on our social media a minimum of 3 times; within a day or two of release, a few weeks after release as a reminder, and toward the end of our discount period as somewhat of a ‘last call’.

Should we get additional versions either from testers, fabric shops, or customers, we will post appropriately throughout this time period and beyond, always properly tagging the maker and designer.

  • We will create a blog post for our website to address the pattern, the designer, the quilt sample, and our discount.

We will have an icon and basic details to host a link to this blog post from our homepage.

  • We will regularly promote all upcoming and ongoing discounts in our weekly notifications to our email subscribers.

  • Should we partner up on a project and TCQ does the longarming and promotional bits for a designer, the designer is expected to:

    1. Tag and credit TCQ anytime quilts we have quilted as part of the promotion are published. This includes IG, FB, blog posts, magazines, etc.

    2. Promote the 25% longarming discount to your audience and customers. Our hope would be 2-3 mentions between your emails, blog posts, and/or IG throughout the discount period.

  • We are very happy to sponsor any SALs you are hosting. We typically offer a final prize of free longarm quilting and return shipping for any US domestic winner.

To include all the participants, we will extend the 25% off release discount appropriately beyond the end of the event.

It has been our tradition to offer to longarm the quilt made by the host during the SAL for free as long as it is in time for you to get it back and promote that it has been quilted by us for the end of the event.

  • We are happy to discuss offering a discount to your subscribers!

  • We would LOVE to partner with you! We’ve already worked with a handful of designers such as Alderwood Studios and XOX Sew on their publications and are very open to more of these types of projects!

  • Let’s do it!! I’ve had some fun opportunities in the past such as AGF Look Books and MQG publications and would love to do more if you have something coming up!

  • After all of these other opportunities, we know sometimes you make quilts that have nothing to do with new releases or SALs. After all, this is still a craft we love and enjoy in all of it’s forms. We will happily quilt anything you send us outside of all the parameters listed above for 25% off. *

  • By utilizing our services through this partnership program we do ask that TCQ receive proper quilting credit. Below are the most common scenarios though we hope our partners are thoughtful enough to be sure to include us wherever appropriate.

Quilting credit every time these quilts are put out into the world. IE: Blog posts, newsletters, and social media posts.

If we longarm your cover quilt we would very much like credit within the pattern itself on both print and digital versions

If the quilt is published or displayed elsewhere (blogs, books, magazines, online subscriptions, look books, quilt shows…) we should be properly credited. Note: not all publications ask for longarming information - it may be up to you to be our advocate and ensure we are included.

On Instagram, a simple line of credit at the bottom of your post go a long way for us!

A little IG/FB/Pinterest love when it works into your campaigns that let folks know you’ve used our services go so very far for us!

  • One of the most important things you can do as part of this partnership is share some honest feedback. Feedback on our services, patterns, website, and anything else you think we should be aware of. Your experience reflects the experience your customers may have and we want it to be top notch. Your constructive input of all types helps us become better!

  • These discounts apply to the longarm quilting only. Return shipping, batting, and additional services such as binding or photography are not included.

There is a minimum $50 charge for the quilting services on all quilts, even after other discounts are applied.

The only exception to the minimum is for the quilts we are doing at 100% off. (Main sample, SAL sample, and SAL prizes.)

  • We tell the average customer our turnaround is 4 weeks or less. For our design partners we know turnaround often needs to be faster. Our current practice is to bump these quilts as close to the front of the queue as possible and then get them into our next photography session. We then get them back to you as quickly as we can. In normal circumstances, we ask for you to expect your quilt to be in our studio for 2 weeks.

However, should you need a faster turnaround, we are always game to try and in most circumstances can make it happen. Just be sure to communicate up front with us, preferably before you send your quilt, to make sure we are all on the same page.

  • Be aware, the holiday season can get a little crazy for us, and while I will always likely find a way to get your project done, it’s super helpful if you can plan with this in mind.

I also take a winter break, usually from around the 20th of December through the 2nd week of January. We typically publish these dates on our blog in August. TCQ will not be doing any quilting during these dates.
