Blanket Drive

2021 Blanket Drive

While taking some photos of customers’ quilts in downtown St. Louis one chilly day this fall, we ran into a homeless gentleman who kindly asked if I had a blanket to spare. It was heartbreaking to tell him no and see him shiver away while I had a wagon full of warm quilts. So Trace Creek Quilting is going to gather what we can in the next couple of weeks and get them downtown to try to keep our fellow St. Louisans a tad bit warmer this winter. Your participation would be greatly welcomed!

Details:

Look around your home and community and see if there are any blankets to spare. They should be warm, durable, and washable - simple fleece blankets or weather resistant picnic blankets are ideal. Throw size is preferred though we will be taking many to shelters so a twin is okay. They should be big enough for an adult, but not so big they are hard to carry around; remember, these blankets will potentially be living on the street with their owners. If you are willing to participate but do not have anything on hand to donate, you can certainly purchase a blanket. We have gathered a handful of options that you can have shipped straight to Trace Creek Quilting.

We are also happy to take new or gently used warm, washable, winter hats as well as new, in the package, adult socks and underwear.

Items should be dropped off or mailed to the Trace Creek Quilting studio at 5802 Five Oaks Pkwy, St. Louis, MO 63128. Our strong preference is to have all items by Friday, November 4th, but we will take things afterwards if necessary. Please feel free to call or text with any questions or concerns, our number is 314-374-5318.
